  1. I'm very glad to see you back, encore. I am having horrendous computer problems as well...but, I am on the verge of sorting it all out....
I bought a collection of comics from the 1950's today. One of the stories was of a Patriotic parade on a Main street in an American Town. The band marched by, the soldiers marched, every body was cheering, except for one man who stood staring bankly with a pained expression on his face.
The fired up spectators in the crowd noticed hi and began to yell that he was not patriotic enough, then the feeling mutated into rage that perhaps he was a communist, or worse yet an anarchist.
The bullies in the crowd surged and pushed him down and began to beat him. They realized that they had killed him, just as his wife appeared, horrified screaming, "What Have You Done To Freddie?"
The bullies, shocked at their own behavior tried to tell her that he wasn't worth her tears...he was not a real American and..."Wat was she doing. married to a communist, anyways?"
Still in hysterical grief, the wife screamed that Freddie was there because his unit that he had fought with in Korea was in the parade and he was waiting for them to let him know when they passed...
because he was blind because he had been injured in the war.

  2. Hi Moonlitewine,

lovely post, hope you get a computer sorted soon!

    Hi Microdot,

Funny I havn't checked the blog in a few days and I come back and there are two parables about blindness on it. Funny that. Enjoy the comics! I doubt if you would get a storyline like that in a contempoary comic, it would probably contravene the USA PATRIOT Act.
