Free Aafia Siddiqui - PROTEST 27.3.10

The Irish Republican Socialist Party have arranged a protest in solidarity with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, to be held at the United States embassy in Dublin on the 27th March at 2.30pm. We would encourage all Republican, socialist and anti-war activists to attend this protest and show their opposition to the American imperialist intervention in the Middle-East and to demand a stop to the internment and torture of innocent people like Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a citizen of the United States and of Pakistani origin. She is a scientist educated at MIT and Brandeis University.

Dr. Siddiqui was abducted in Pakistan in March 2003 for no known reason and was sent to Afghanistan where she was held secretly for 5 years in Bagram prison. Bagram prison, often described as the ‘forgotten Guantánamo’, is notorious for the brutal treatment and torture of those held there. Her detainment in Bagram is something the US. government denies but her presence there has been verified by former prisoners held at Bagram.

At the time of Dr. Siddiqui’s abduction she was with her 3 young children. She has no idea what has become of her two youngest children, one being just a few months old at the time, while her 7 year old son was interned with her and subjected so similar abuse and torture.

On February 3rd 2010, Dr. Siddiqui was found guilty by a court in New York of attempted murder while she being detained. She was accused of taking an assault rifle off of a US. army officer in an interview room and firing the weapon at members of the US. military and FBI personnel who were all present. Yet Dr. Siddiqui’s finger prints were not found on the weapon in question, no bullets were found, no shell casings, no bullet holes and none of the people present in this meeting room were injured...that is except Aadia Siddiqui who was shot in the stomach and almost died from her injuries.

The conviction of Dr. Siddiqui in her show trial was nothing but an attempt to cover up the abused and horrors that she has suffered. She was never charged with any offence while detained. It is also important to realise that this is all too common place in the Middle-East and Dr. Siddiqui’s story is just one of many similar instances.

We demand her immediate release and for her to be re-united with her children who are still missing. We demand an end to America’s imperialist intervention in the Middle-East which has brought a wave of death, destruction, pain and torture to the people of that region.

  1. It's the first time I hear about her story. Media doesn't tell us anything about her. If she was an Israeli soldier, Media will have a very different move.

I guess the way how American government deals with this Muslim Pakistani woman reveals the real face of American government who doesn't care of justice, but only for its interests.

Thanks Rory for informing us about her story.

  3. The Irish Socialist Republican Party is reporting this huge story. Mohamed's Egyptian Media hasn't reported it; in the U.S. we have a very healthy Left & Right Wing Media here, but nothing substantive yet on this one.

So, the message seems to be..."End Capitalism"...
and Investors large & small owning the big corporations, Hey, that's Free Enterprise!

End Imperialism! Adopt a European-style Socialism, then we Irish Socialists will then forgive you American War-mongers, and your fake Freedoms!" Is that the real message?

    Is that it, Rory?

Maybe S/H should post one on...what? How about the "Continuum of Jihad Wars"--Hey, you've just given me a great idea! See ya later; now I've gotta do some more research.

  6. Rory - It would be prudent to double-check multiple sources before claiming "the torture and innocence" of Aafia Siddique.

A simple search of Wikipedia, The N.Y. Times, Huffington Post, Boston News, etc reveals her long association with al Queda operatives in the United States since the early 1990's, even before the WTC bombing in 1993.

Siddique contacts with The Al-Kifah Refugee Center is undeniable; it's the largest bin Laden fund-raising group in the U.S. The credibility of Irish Republican Socialists is on the line here, and your BlogOfBlogs is much better served (in my view) with careful editorials. "Lady al Queda" is 'No Innocent' here, or in Pakistan...or Afganistan.

Example: See our 'Continuum of Wars' (when published) it took several days of research!

  7. Aafia Siddiqui has the best education money can supply in the US. She is American with strong family connections in Pakistan.

Do not for a moment think she is the only woman held or detained indefinitely. She's not.

The United States Judicial Branch should be inclined to follow precepts set before them. However, at its conception, the judicial system was set up for the powerful men they served. Women? ha!

Civil rights came and things did improve, somewhat. It mandated certain things. A speedy trial. Sentencing according to standards. Non-biased juries. Many more.

If you walk the halls of any court today in the US, don't believe that all is well. The courts and others carrying out laws have no problem reverting back to their old ways. Serving the wealthy men.

If you're curious, find out about the founding of the organization called, Legal Aid. History and the ability to hold even a wealthy woman is there.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lady Moonlight - American Courts & Judges require...both prosecution & defense attorneys, and each will demand hard evidence in both civil and criminal cases. Can you point to a better legal system..anywhere in the world? I doubt it.

The angry words.."reverting back to their old ways...serving wealthy men" only indicates a contempt for your nation & our legal system, not fact-based evidence, required by our courts.

  9. Reb,

Why do you have this weird idea that your country is so nice, kind and just.

The UK abolished slavery in 1807, the US in 1865.

Ireland abolished capital punishment in 1990 (last person executed 1954), your country routinely executes poor people.

The US is torturing people, detaining them in secret locations for years with out trial and routinely slaughtering civilians in missile and drone attacks, all in counties thousands of miles from you own. Why?

Don't give me that suicide bomber crap, 9/11 was a long time ago. Get over it.

  10. Rory - You say "9/11 was a long time ago."

  12. Someone I know was driving down the road and going five miles over the speed limit. The police stopped this person. Very routine problem.

However, this situation was anything but what should have been routine. The driver was told to get out of the car. The driver complied with a body search when the police asked for one.

Then, the car was searched. The car held a screwdriver in the glove compartment. The driver was then suspected of concealing a weapon because of the screwdriver.

This person was very shocked when the police officer applied uncontrolled violence by pulling out his revolver from his holster and taking a stance of ready to fire.

I believe the situation above was a miscarriage of justice. This is one situation I know about. There are others I could write about too - things that are not legally acceptable but have happened.

The situations happened to average folk here in my area. I do not believe such an incident would ever happen to the oblivious wealthy. Oblivious because money buys public protection. No questions asked. Imagine if asked what might be accomplished.

  17. Snake Hunters,

I can see that in the last few months you're becoming more and more interested in Islamic history and Islamic holy texts. That's nice.

You made a good effort in your last post entitled; "Continuum of Wars". This reveals somehow an intention of pursuit of knowledge. That's great. Keep up the good work. Continue your pursuit of knowledge.

Now, you said to me; don't you feel a certain responsibility to respond to these 'hard evidences' ?

I cannot understand what you meant by 'hard evidences'!! When I read the post, I only found some histories and names of states or peoples. What are these histories considered to be evidences about?

    If I said;
    "War of America against Japan(1939-1945)."
OK! Is that a hard evidence for you?

There is something missing in your post. Talk in brief about each of these events. Tell what are the circumstances of each of them. Continue your research.

I would recommend one source for you to continue your research, when you're interested:

Now, to respond to your "War of America Against Japan."

If you have faith in Wikipedia, start your research there:

    * In 1931, the Japanese Imperial Armies & Navy
began occupying many Islands in the Pacific Region.

    * In 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria, subdued and brutalized rural people there. {Research}

    * In 1937, Research 'The Rape of Nanking' -

    * Dec 7th, 1941, Research the Destruction of half the U.S. Pacific Fleet at anchor, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Fortunately, our Aircraft Carriers were at Sea on patrol duty.
We were victims of a Sneak Attack that morning.

    * Our "political arm" was asleep in Washington D.C. Never again, Mohamed, never again. It was a bitter lesson, We Were At WAR!

    * In 1939, Hitler's Panzer Divisions began slashing across Europe, and they were fully mobilized for total war against their unprepared neighbors. The Sudetanland, Poland,
then on to Hungary & Czechoslovakia.

    * Quickly in 1942, the U.S. mobilized a standing Army & Navy, Marine Corps & Coast Guard of 12 million civilians into a Great Fighting Force in about 18 months.

    * Then Hitler made a mistake, He attacked Russia, and 20 million civilians died!
    {Do the research, I don't, I remember much of it}

    * Allied troops never saw one single Russian soldier in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Belgium or France. {Research it}

    * The U.S. converted our factories into the famous "Arsenal Of Democracy", Kaiser Ships built the incredible merchant fleet that supplied our Allied Forces around the world.
    {Research it}

    * U.S. Aircraft Companies built the warplanes that became the Srategic Air Command that flattened German Industrial Cities. Detroit stopped building cars, all focus on Tanks & Trucks.

    * German Scientists were far ahead in missile & experimental jet aircraft design, and Nuclear Bomb Theory & Technology, etc

    * Americans went to work, fast! In two years we had the A- Bomb that ended WWII.

Please Avoid The Communist Propaganda Machine; these people hope to control the World with a political theory, and they choose Iran as their fellow conspirator!

    Iran is also the Enemy of Sunni Egypt & Saudi Arabia. Think carefully about that! The USA wants Freedom for All Peaceful Nations;

Nuclear War is "Mutually Assured Destruction"
of all nations of the civilized world.

  21. Rory - Did I ever say that our country is entirely "nice, kind, and just?" Most people I've met here are, of course. However, we have 307 million population, and none are perfect, not one.

Like all nations, we have "unhappy" people, and mal-contents that are easily duped, and we have all types of criminals, pedophiles, and sick men that mistreat women & girls, & serial killers....

and traitors too, just as they do in Merry Old Ireland!

Rory - Always, there are always cries for - Peace! - from the Far-Out Left. Your propaganda campaign seems well organized and well-funded, for a minority party!

It brings to mind an old quote:

"An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile, in the hope of being eaten last!" W. Churchill

Another quote: "War is Deceit." Qur'an: Vol 4, Book 52, #269

Another: "A republic, if you can keep it." -
    Ben Franklin

Another favorite from a Great Irishman:
"Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will, and the moral courage of free men and women...

It is a weapon our adversaries do not have."
    Ronald Reagan

Socialist B. Hussein Obama doesn't understand this fundamental truth, nor does the Grand Ayatollah Ali Khomenei of Iran.

He orders the murders his young people that protest in the streets, as he enriches U-235 to Dominate the Sunni of Iraq, Jordan, Egypt & Saudi Arabia! It's strange that you never mention this wormy-tongued character.

Our friend Mohamed knows this, about IRAN, and about their Madhi Prophet too. That's why you hear mixed signals about Iran's "Intentions".

If you have e-Mail contact with Mohamed, ask him about the Sunni Dilemma vis-a-vis IRAN! If he knows the truth (and I have little doubt about that) he might acknowledge (privately) that the Entire Middle East is "en boca al Lupo"

Today, I was skimming through "Tundra Tabloids"
and found this item on a 15 yr old Egyptian girl, Dina el Gowhary, that sent a letter to Prez Obama, asking for his mediation with the Egyptian Government, for her family. They have been found guilty of Apostasy - for converting
from Islam to Coptic Christianity, and her family may now face the death penalty!

    Apparently, the Government feels it's
against the 'Public Order', a serious offense.

Since this is a current case, and family lives are on the line, would you ask Mohamed to look into it?

If the Dina el Gowhary is being reported truly (the only news source I recognized carrying the story was Fox News, notoriously right-wing), then it is a sad situation indeed. However the family are all definitely alive and together, unlike Dr. Siddiqui's.

Furthermore they are being oppressed by religious extremists within their community, not by the state. It is the US government that has destroyed the Siddiqui family, and for what?

  27. Rory,

I thought I had read about this woman from a website, voices unabridged. I accidentally removed all my suggested sites a few months ago. Her story isn't there now which is not surprising considering the publicity and the fact it is a smallish organization.

The photo you have up isn't the one I recall seeing. But I have seen the photo around on the web.

This entire affair is sad and only further suggests what I have been writing online about: women and children are being attacked at disgraceful and alarming rates.

Ms Aafia Siddiqui makes me ask myself and everyone, "And what for humankind that a mother should lose her children, that a woman must be tortured? For What?"

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rory - I was following a young and beautiful international reporter from CNN NEWS, (Not FOX News!) Her name is Atia Abawi, based in Afganistan. This led me to Dina el Gowhari's family, and their problem hiding from the Egyptian authorities that have Fatwahs condemning them to death for Apostasy!

So, let's be fair; Fox News (So-called Right- Wing) is not involved.

I found another unrelated brutal case of a husband cutting off the nose & ears of his wife. Her name isd Bibi Aisha, another brutal case in Afganistan, where you will find the picture of the mutilated face of this 19 yr old lady. They left her to die, but she survived!

  29. Reb,

My reading was that Dina el Gowhari is not hiding from the Egyptian authorities, but Muslim hardliners in the community.

Egyptian law is a mixture based on "Islamic and civil law (particularly Napoleonic codes)." (from Wikipedia).

So the people who issued the fatwah have no legal power to enforce it. I admit that dose not mean that this family are not in a difficult position and it would not surprise me if the authorities are not helping them for religious reasons. So what are you going to do about the situation?

    Ann,

That is the question I am asking too. For what? Why would someone do this to a woman and her children? What do they hope to gain?

  30. Rory - I often search the Internet for items of
historical content, and wondered if you might have any Russian or Ukrainian friends, or their children, that remember any of the stories, during Joseph Stalin's brutal years.

    Search: HOLODOMOR

Here's one of special interest dealing with the
Ukrainian history of 1932-33 where there was a - "planned extermination by starvation" - of ten million civilians! It is known by survivors of those times as the Holodomor; there is a planned Memorial in Kiev of those times.

It's sadly little known in most of Europe today, unlike the Jewish Holocaust, where a lesser number, six million died.

Canadian & U.S. immigrants (Ukrainian) are very aware of those ghastly times!

Title: "Ten million died but not one shall be forgotten" - reb

  31. Rory - As you know, I am often researching items of historical content, and came across the "Holodomor", the brutal history of the Ukranian people during Joseph Stalin's dictatorial reign - 1932-33 - and found this:

"The planned starvation of ten million civilians", in a farming region where there was abundant food, for export.

I was wondering if you had any Russian or Ukranian friends, or their children, that remember the stories from those times.

In Canada & the U.S. those immigrants know of this nightmare, and there's a planned Memorial at Kiev, with this title:

"Ten Million Died But Not One Shall Be Forgotten"

The Jewish Holocaust is remembered because of the many WWII photographs. It's still Genocide in Europe, although a lesser number perished in Hitler's Nazi Germany.

  32. Reb,

My last comment, I asked you what you were going to do about Dina el Gowhary since you seemed so concerned. You respond with a random, meaningless list of horrible historic events.

We could all mention say, Nixon and Kissenger's murderous bombing campaign in Laos, North Vietnam and Cambodia or the recent Gaza massacre by Isreal but to what purpose?

    Rory

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rory - You asked, what was I going to DO about the tragic Gowdary family story. All anyone can do, all you & I can do, is to publish the factual inequities whereever we find them!

Since you devoted this post to just ONE alleged victim (Siddiqui) of a possible life sentence in a U.S. Prison, I believed it to be motivated by a sincere (possibly mistaken)"humanitarian" gesture on your part, so...

    * I pointed first to a family in trouble in Egypt.

    * Then I pointed to the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) cruel "Genocide by Starvation" in 1932-33, to serve us all as a warning of what could happen if we put our faith in ONE System of Socialist Governance, with ONE Man Rule, old Joe Stalin.

    * Then Rory, you twisted the tragic Vietnam War by blaming Nixon/Kissinger for that war!

See: > Kennedy appointee McNamara, Sec of Defense. His book "In Retrospect" admitted the mistake. Robt S. McNamara said, "We Were Wrong!"

Historical Fact: The Vietnam War was a Democrat Party War (research it please) that began with President J.F. Kennedy in 1963-64, defending the corrupt Ngo Dien Deim/Madame Nnu (French Speaking) Rule, where Tv broadcasts witnessed Buddhist Priests pouring gasoline over themselves, in a fiery protest!

...followed by the Lyndon Baines Johnson (Again Democrat Party) four years (1964-1968) then...

Nixon (a Republican) was elected in 1968!

Another Fact: The "Death by Starvation - Holodomor" of ten million civilians in the Ukraine, was NOT a "meaningless list of horrible historic events!" - reb
    ____________________________________________

  34. Reb,

First, why don't you read things before you comment? I blamed Nixon and Kissenger for the bombing campaign in Laos, Cambodia and North
vietnam, not the entire war, although your comment on it's origin is as inaccurate as most of your 'facts'.

I've heard taped converstions between them when they planned it, including Nixon wanted to use neuclear weapons and Kissenger saying that the public wouldn't accept it.

Also, I am doing a lot more for Dr. Siddiqui than copying and pasting a few lines onto a website.

    Rory

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rory - I did not "copy and paste" anything on the Vietnam War, I have an excellent memory!

I had a good personal friend, I coached his kids on 29 Palms Swim Team; a Staff Sgt in the US Marines, that died in Vietnam, and I didn't read about it in any newspaper or any w.w.p. propaganda magazine.

I watched that miserable "no-win" war for ten years on the news channels. We lost 58,000 fine troopers in that Democratic War, and Robert Strange McNamara said "We were wrong, terribly wrong." He should know, he ran that war from the oval office, during the eight years of the Democratic Party under Kennedy & Johnson. Read McNamara's book "In Retrospect" and he was the Democrat's Secretary of Defense!

Nixon was a shameful president...and I'll not defend him; so let's get that straight!

You also said that my version of the 'origin' of the Vietnam war was inaccurate, as well as "most of your facts."

Now the ball is in your court, Rory.

    * Point to 'One Inaccuracy', just One.
    * Point to One Inaccuracy on Holodomor.
    * As far as the Aafia Siddiqui case is concerned, she was connected to American Mosques here, was known to be an al-Queda connection by our CIA people since the early 1990's long before 9/11. She's hard-core.

If you like Wikipedia, at least search there, before you attempt to bum-rap me, or my facts.

  39. By the way, Moonlight, if you cared half-as-much about females' well-being as you care about indulging a contrived sense of self-righteous indignation, you'd be condemning -- rather than defending -- the misogyny below. But you'd rather lend your aid to those (Fadly and the MIT terrorist) advancing this barbarism.

You can't say you weren't warned:

"My mother came to me while I was being swung on a swing between two branches and got me down. My nurse took over and wiped my face with some water and started leading me. When I was at the door she stopped so I could catch my breath. I was brought in while Muhammad was sitting on a bed in our house. My mother made me sit on his lap. The other men and women got up and left. The Prophet consummated his marriage with me in my house when I was nine years old” (Tabari 9:131).

'Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah's Apostle came, 'Aisha said, "I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women" (Bukhari Volume 7, Book 72, Number 715).

“. . . good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them . . . " (Qur'an 4:34).

“Your women are a tilth for you (to "cultivate") so go to your tilth as ye will” (Qur'an 2:223).

"Allah's Apostle said, "If a husband calls his wife to his bed (i.e. to have sexual relation) and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning" (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 460).

“Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” (Qur'an 2:282).

“If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” (Qur'an 4:3).

"If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way . . ." (Qur'an 4:15).

“Allah (thus) directs you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” (Qur'an 4:11).

"'When she was delivered she came with the child (wrapped) in a rag and said: Here is the child whom I have given birth to. He said: Go away and suckle him until you wean him. When she had weaned him, she came to him [Mohammed] with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand. She said: Allah's Apostle, here is he as I have weaned him and he eats food. He [Mohammed] entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. Khalid b Walid came forward with a stone which he flung at her head and there spurted blood on the face of Khalid and so he abused her. Allah's Apostle [. . .] heard his (Khalid's) curse that he had huried upon her. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Khalid, be gentle . . . .'" (Muslim Book 17, 4206).

". . . When the Prophet heard the news that the people of the Persia had made the daughter of Khosrau their Queen (ruler), he said, "Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman their ruler"'" (Bukhari Volume 9, Book 88, Number 219).

  42. Reb,

The origins of the Vietnam War lie in France's withdrawl from it's colonies Indo-China after WWII. Imperialist forces in Britain and America could not stand the idea of the people of the region electing left-wing governments so they set abut setting up puppet states in the region.

    Sound familiar?

  43. Rory - You really need to research Vietnam history before you speak; perhaps I can help.

    * The French colonists sent their military units, and teaching Catholic Nuns, to dominate the Buddhist culture for over 100 years before we became involved. The French government in those decades developed a French-speaking Elite 10% Ruling Class! After WWII the French got their tails whipped at Dien Bien Phu, and cried for Pres Eisenhower to send troops; Ike sent trucks & medical supplies, but NO troops!

It was Catholic President John F. Kennedy that sent the first 25,000 soldiers there to help Ngo Dein Deim & Madame Gnu's corrupt government; her brother was the Bishop of Saigon.

"Imperialist Britain & America" had no plan to set up puppet states! That's classic B.S.

Sound Familiar? YES! That Left-Wing Anti-American Propanganda Sounds Very Familiar Indeed!

Research Rory, before you repeat more inane falsehood. Your credibility is on the line when you have a weblog.

  44. Reb,

I think the French were wrong to colonise Indo-China to begin with. I also think McNamara was nothing but a war-monger and that the Kennedy and Johnston administrations were utterly wrong to send troops to Vietnam.

Eisenhower was less wrong, but why did he not allow the people of the region to choose their own form of government? There are many lessons to be learnt from Vietnam, but considering how America is behaving in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as her consistent support of the brutal Zionist regime in Israel one must wonder was anything learnt at all.

  45. Yeah Rory, I agree that sending our young people to fight wars; that nut-case Ayatollah Khomeini just had to grab our Embassy in Tehran; and Saddam Hussein just had to send his tanks into Kuwait, when we politely asked him not to do that, but the "Butcher of Bagdad"
wanted those Oil Fields in Kuwait, then on to
Saudi Arabia. Power & Greed seems to corrupt those rascals, doesn't it? Where O where will it end? See our post "Continuum of Wars" for the partial answer - What Fools We Mortals Be -

  48. Ann,

It seems that Dr. Siddiqui's two missing children have been found in Pakistan, which is good news. There does not seem to be any change in her situation though.
