Decaffeinated Coffee

OK so if Moonlitewine can be posting about smoking homemade pipes and drinking fruity drinks, here my newest (non)stimulant. Yep, after years of over-stimulation, I bought de-caff.

What's next? you may well ask, herbal tea? tofu? hummus!!!???

Hmm, I doubt it. But I must say my new clear-headed approach to life is paying dividends.

Meanwhile, an associate of mine told me that a certain fascist, convicted drug dealer and known police informer told him that my neighbors were getting together a petition to get me thrown off the street.

Who??? I wonder, I get on well with all of the neighbors I know and am quite good friends with several people on our little street.

Anyway, as luck would have it not two hours after hearing this little nugget of information, I meet the aforementioned fascist/drug dealer/police informer while out walking Yogi. I confronted him and asked "what's this you are saying about a petition to get me thrown off my street?"

He said, "well that's what I heard". So I told him to send whoever told him that around to my place so we could discuss it. I won't hold my breath.

Now it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Sir Antony O'Reilly's henchmen in That Big Theater down the other end of the street don't like me flying red flags out my upstairs window on special occasions (my Lithuanian friends seem to think this must be a crime), but, last I heard, Ireland is still a free country.

I await further developments.

  1. Indeed, Rory, what is this about a red flag? Do you mean, the red flag for danger? Is it for racing cars going too fast down the street or alien protection from gamma rays?

I donno nothing about no red flags.

But, I'm using some decaf coffee, cuz my other ran out. Plus my favorite tea is herbal mint tea. yummy!!!

  2. I have to confess that I have bought chamomile tea in the past, but it did not really impress me. I have been getting very angry at small things this last week or so, so I think I might be over stimulated from too much tea and coffee, so I am going to try the de-caff.

The red flag is the flag of socialism, especially revolutionary socialism, to the very right wing folks down at our friendly local opera house this must be like a red rag to a bull. I have several.

My 'standard, everyday red flag' has a black fist on it, this is the symbol of the SWP.

I have a large purple and gold flag with two smaller red flags, this flag is huge and lovingly embellished with real gold leaf and is usually festooned with a little green bit of bunting. It looks like a medieval battle standard. The purple and gold is for Wexford, the red for socialism and the green for Ireland. This is reserved for big demos and extra special occasions.

I am currently working on a new red flag with a black starry plough (the great bear). The starry plough is the symbol of Irish Republican Socialism, my buddies in the Irish Republican Socialist Party use a white starry plough on a blue background, while the comrades in the Worker's Party have a red starrry plough on a white background. The black on red motif is my own construction, it ticks all the boxes, red for socialism, black for anarchy, starry plough for republican socialism. I might start my own faction :-) what the Irish Left really needs is yet another splinter group.

  3. I can never understand why there are so many splits amongst the Irish left.

  4. I'm not sure myself John, I think it is a worldwide phenomenon, speaking for myself, I've been political all my life, but as soon as I get involved a party I want to leave.
I think maybe left wing people just don't like the structure and discipline of a party framework so go off and form their own.

  5. Rory,

You are probably right about left wing people. Political parties seem to get too rigid. And, one has to accept portions of a platform in the end in order to progress personal beliefs.

I think a red flag out my window would bring big trouble in Iowa. I put up something from American Friends Service Committee. They are a religious group, who advocate peace.

  6. So, how's the decaf coming, Rory? Somehow, it tastes different than standard coffee. I did get some high grade decaf one time and found it to taste pretty good, though.

It's hard to find tea without the caffeine. The local grocer recently brought in a brand called, Stash. Some of its tea is purely herbal, without caffeine.
